Description: The day was beautiful if brisk and the turnout was great. We had a last blast over some great "Lotus" roads through Sullivan County New York. 11 Lotuses is a fantastic turn out by any measure.  17 cars in all really added to the fun. A wonderfully scenic route was mapped out starting in Port Jervis, NY and ending in Chester, NY at David and Sandy Nagler's LotuShack. We all met at Arlene & Tom's Diner on Route 6 in Port Jervis at 8:30 for breakfast (actually folks drifted in up to 9:15). By 10AM we all blasted out of the parking lot and cruised up Route 97, winding along the Delaware river, to the Roebling Bridge. The oldest standing suspension bridge in the country. The bridge was built as part of the canal system that ran through the area. We all drove our cars where the barges used to float across the bridge and the walls of the bridge, which contained the water, did indeed make a wonderful canyon for the sweet sound of a string of Lotuses, Porsches, Corvettes and an MG crossing the bridge!

Leaving Roebling bridge we had a fun mix of well paved and scenic state and county routes, with lots of sweepers, some long straights and some tight twisties for the drivers to enjoy. For the passenger there are lakes, rivers and even a waterfall (at least it was flowing strong during the reconnaissance run!). Our run was partially interrupted by Zek and Elmo driving their Jeep at about 20mph on some twisties. Once those stuck saw a clear pass though, the exhaust note of passing Lotuses, Porsches and an MG were glorious to hear. However, we suspect Zek and Elmo were not amused.

Our next stop was at one of the country's premier go-kart tracks, Oakland Valley Race Park. While the race season is over, the kart shop was open and we all got to watch Allen Perry walk the track a provide a professional's view of it. David also engaged us in the idea of taking over the track for a day next season and tearing around it on 50mph Go-Karts. Start saving your pennies for the spring.

After leaving OVRP, we made a final pit stop at the Nagler's Lotushack garage where Sandy prepared a feast for us to dine on. A specail thanks to the chief cookie and brownie baker Allison Nagler. Our warm thanks go out to Sandy and Allison for the effort. The food and company and the car talk was great, as was the place itself. We hope it did not take too long to wipe the drool off of David's cars, tools, telescope and sundry parts. A super time was had by all.

We've gotten good reports from Scott that the Porsche boys were raving about the route and know the Corvette people enjoyed it.  They'll probably do that same run as one of their events next year.

A special thanks to the Mid -Hudson valley Corvette Association for joining us that day.

Below are some pictures including shots of the cars and owners. Drop me an email at domg2@optonline.net and I'll add you name to it for the record (I am terrible at remembering names).
