For the third year, the Lotus Enthusiasts Orgaization was invited to participate in the New York International Auto Show.
The organizers arranged for a special Lotus only display under a huge tent located directly in front of the entrance to the Javits Center on the Inner Roadway area
of the facility (adjacent to 11th avenue).
We staged the cars between 8AM and 10AM. TonyF and MarkG showed up first with the 06 Exige and 06 Elise.
Mark is mad that we did not get a shot of him driving the Elise but he did indeed pilot it from NJ under the
watchful eye of TonyF. Cars showed up in random order, each pulling into the tent to dry off as the rain was
coming down. Once Reja came back from picking up DomM's car, he suggested the cars all pull out, in the rain
so they could be pulled back in, in the proper order to stage them as Reja had designed.
It looked like he was going to be strung up for a few tense moments, but he managed to convince the LEO gang
to cooperate. We all also enjoyed the Breakfast and Lunch provided by Reja and Elaine. A warm thanks to
them both.
By 9:30 we were ready and we opened the door to the public. The LEO gang rotated between talking the cars up, chatting with each other
and visiting the Auto Show. We heard that they had a few interesting cars inside as well,
though most of us preferred to hang out at the tent and catch up on each other and
our cars......
At 3PM we opened some flaps in the tent and did our usual rev-off where we start and rev up the cars. Alex and Steve
tied as the loudest cars in the tent. While Steve has the V8, it sounds like Alex runs with open pipes. Rumor
has it that the ride in the tunnel out of the city behind Alex was a truly amazing "sound" experience.
Griot's Garage once again sponsored us and provided a collection of fine car care products which we
raffled off
to the LEO members at the end of the night.
A good time was had by all and we staged our dramatic nighttime escape, one car at a time, to the cheers of the
crowd at about 8:30PM.
