The end of September brings another nearby Lotus trip, one more chance to get the Lotus out for a run
and meet new friends. It will be a fantastic four-day event!
Joe Popielarczyk and Tony Vaccaro of LOONY (Lotus Owners of NY) are setting up this first annual
Northeast Lotus Rendezvous, September 27th - 30th, 2007.
We are planning on meeting in State College PA on Thursday evening, September 27th, around 5
PM at the Super 8. After the Meet and Greet, a caravan to a dinner venue will occur.
After staying the night, the Rendezvous will drive up to Grand Island, NY on scenic back roads. The
trip will be relaxed with plenty of opportunity for sightseeing.
Arriving in Grand Island around 3 PM, a dinner-picnic is
planned at Beaver Island Park. Then it's off to Niagara Falls
or the Casinos or whatever Nightlife you desire.
On Saturday September 29th the plan is to have breakfast
then head to the Watkins Glen Racetrack for a 3 PM arrival,
again all secondary roads. There will be some club racing at
the track. Then it's off to Corning NY, just a few miles away,
for the night.
On Sunday, we'll have breakfast in Corning and do a small photo shoot. The plan is to have everyone
on their way home by Noon.
We would like to get a number on those planning to attend, especially for the picnic at the site of LOG
23 on Grand Island NY, Friday night.
Remember, you don't have to attend the whole event. Meeting us at any of the stops is
encouraged and hopefully we will get to meet a lot of Lotus Owners. The only costs associated with
the event are your traveling costs and a $15 per person charge for the picnic on Grand Island. If we
don't get enough participants for a catered meal at Beaver Island State Park in Grand Island, NY, it will
end up being just a bring your own extras and we will supply hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.. This is a real
relaxed event and everyone will be able to do their own thing.
Some of the best times we have had in our Lotus cars have been driving to and from events. We hope to
capture some of that magic with this trip.
