It was promoted as something BIG. It grew into a LARGE congregation of Lotus owners.
Why, some were so competitive they were at each others’ throats! (All in fun of course.)
Put a group of rabid Lotus owners together at the Lehigh Valley Grand Prix indoor cart
track, and you get a knock-down, drag-out competition between two of the biggest Lotus
clubs in the North East. We had 27 participants, a new record, for the most part evenly
divided between our LEO regulars and the PALS (The Philadelphia Area Lotus Society).
The racing was fun and ferocious but in the end LEO prevailed and took home the hardware
(some Classy trophies provided by Lotus of Princeton in Hopewell). Fast Time of Day
for LEO went to Richard Fan, with Stephen Lobianco taking the speedy-guy honors for
PALS. They each got trophies. The Club award went to LEO (did you expect any other
result?)
The fastest time posted went to Richard, but there were several consistently fast
drivers in the LEO ranks, notably David Nagler, Jjim Cummings, and Raphael Garcia
from Park Ave Motors in Maywood.
The Lobianco family proved that fast driving is a genetic trait, as they were the only
PALS members to average 34 second laps for the four sessions! (LEO had seven drivers in
the sub-34 second club!)
Can’t wait until
next year!
PS Thanks to Phil Malitsch for the excellent après-race snacks at his place in
Allentown afterwards. The NASCAR race was worth watching as well!
