Spirited Drive and Tour of Thunderbolt Raceway

Aug 9th, 2008

When:August 9, 2008
Where:Thunderbolt Raceway, Millville, NJ
Contact: Maureen Offord at maureen.offord@ses-americom.com
Info: The new NJ Motorsports Park racetrack is a fine facility. Nestled next to the Millville Municipal Airport, it has a TWO race courses and a separate go kart track. Amenities such as the country club and villas are still not quite finished, but the track is there, and it was fun to watch the SVRA boys mix it up as they learned the track, this being their first outing at the facility.

We watched as Kyle Kaulback of PALS practiced in his Lotus Type 61 Formula Ford (the next day winning first in his class, fourth overall, congratulations!) and walked around both circuits. A few took advantage of the promotional discounts arraigned by Nathan Davis of PALS to ride the karts on the fast outdoor track.

Kyle was a graceful host, and his paddock-mate Skott [sic] drove us on a few laps of the track at lunchtime to show us the new course upfront-and-personal.

Anyone wishing to visit NJMSP on their own should note that on September 20 – 21 there is a Vintage Air Show next door which combines vintage auto races and over 20 WWII war-birds on display and in the air!
