Our annual Go Kart Challenge at the Lehigh Valley Grand Prix facility was well-attended by club members from both LEO and PALS.
The session format varied from last year, as the first two race sessions provided practice
and timing for our participants (along with passing flags for overtaking drivers).
The last two sessions were in more of a race format, with run groups determined by their
previous lap times without regards to club affiliation, and no passing flags…you needed
to let your overtaking intentions be known by either dive-braking your opponent into the
turns (safe) or bumping them to let you know you were comin’ through! Good Stuff, and a
LOT of fun.
LEO’s David Nagler and Richard Fan came in 1 – 2 in the final race after dicing the whole
final session. When taken as an aggregate of all drivers’ times, though, PALS won the
coveted Challenge Cup Trophy provided by Lotus of Princeton!.
We’ll win the trophy back next year! Don’t worry! :)

The only two Loti driven to the Go Kart Challenge were the yellow V8 Esprit owned by Phil Parlato of Deer Park, Long Island, NY, and the salty green Esprit Turbo owned by David N of Chester, NY.
Atwell Haines demonstrates the fast line as he leads his heat early in the session. (Actually he had checked-up and caused a pileup behind….but you gotta win ‘em any way you can!)
Fast Time of Day trophies for each Club were provided by Lotus of Princeton, NJ. Thanks!
