Once again, stalwart LEO supporters Lotus of Princeton (aka
Sports and Specialists Cars) hosted our ragtag group of Lotus
owners as we attended the Hopewell Cruise Night on May 8th.
Due to threatening weather the S&S showroom was given over to the local band,
but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of those who came to see the
cars and attend the talk by Ed Kollum of Cam-Guard Lubricants.
For us motor oil junkies (and you KNOW who you are), Ed gave a fascinating account of what keeps
our engine’s lifeblood effective, while recalling a problem fleet of Southwestern Bell telephone trucks.
It all came down to fuel dilution. Ed told us how certain modes of operation of gasoline engines
contribute to early motor oil ineffectiveness.
It was great to meet the folks at the dealership (who knew it was Nichole, not Ed S, who ran
EVERYTHING!), and Sue Howard’s MG provided some of the evening’s excitement as the Prince of
Darkness attacked the car’s headlight circuit. (Nothing that wiggling some wires couldn’t fix,
though…)
